25 year old Fionn, former frontman for the semi successful metal band Vespers, now finds himself working a minimum wage job at a cinema, laying low and acting as a guardian for his younger teen cousin, not being metal in any way shape or form. What a loser! How did he find himself at such a fall from grace? One reason; his younger twin brother, former bestfriend and cofounder of Vespers, now turned eternal bastard; Seamus, whose betrayal lead him to ditching the frontman life for a 9 to 5. Years of recouping from the fallout of leaving Vespers, Fionn is restless, under stimulated and yearning to reuild what he once had. With his old bandmate from Vespers and best friend Odran, he sets out to build up a new band, Baintsi.

Younger cousin and constant headache to Fionn, Daithi is a teenage prodigy on the guitar and won’t
let anyone forget it. At twelve, he was taken in by Fionn after his parents could no longer look after him
and the two evetually learnt to heal from eachother and became closer through their shared love
for music. Daithi, now fifteen and having found out about Fionn’s plans to take up music again, makes
it his personal mission to be as insufferable as possible until Fionn lets him in to Baintsi.

Long time friend of Fionn from their brief stint at university, Odran has been by his side as an anchor since the first serious formation of Vespers back in the day. Not only as a drummer but as a level head and responsible voice among the chaos of band life, he’s loyal and dependible, so much so that when Fionn leaves Vespers, he goes with him. Taking some years off from music to find a stable, boring office job, he’s the first point of call for Fionn when the yearning to make music comes back again and he jumps at the chance.

Newly moved to the city to persue a career in music, Meabh is a quieter, shut in girl with nothing
tying her to her past back in her hometown. She spent her life in the care system, her only real form
of family in her childhood friend Cathal who moved with her to find something more in the metal
scene. She joins Baintsi with no real experience playing outside of her room but her talents alone
ignite a fire in Fionn to help build her stage presence and integrate her into his community. An
instant connection between the two quickly becomes a centrepoint for the band, but could it
become something more for the two of them?

Cathal is outnumbered back home. Only son in a house of five girls, he’s ready to get the hell out of the town that gave him nothing but torture. Growing up as an Irish traveller, he was already subjected to torment even before he came out as gay, his only companion and number one defender since the age of seven being Meabh. At twenty five he’s now a much more confidant and fiery guy who’s always
ready to taunt and pick a fight. He’s protective of Meabh when they first join Baintsi, ready to make it somewhere with music but just as ready to fight Fionn over stolen glances at his bestfriend.
